PROTO Announcements

Black Sun's new multi-user client is now available. It is a plug-in to Live3D and Cosmo Player.

Silicon Graphics's new beta 2 of its VRML 2.0 browser, Cosmo Player, is now available for download.

AnthroKids is a new Web site containing anthropometric data of children, created by The Open Virtual Reality Testbed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The project is being conducted with the cooperation/collaboration of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Center for Human Modeling and Simulation at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space, BigBook, Nortel and Interactive Imaginations are among the companies using Silicon Graphics' Cosmo suite of content development tools, which includes VRML software.

The Beta 4 VRML MAX exporter is available from http://www.ktx.com/max_down.htm.

EventOut

A conference on virtual worlds and community on the Internet called, "Earth to Avatars (E2A): Contact, Culture and Community in Digital Space", will be held by The Contact Consortium. E2A will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 26-7, 1996 at the ANA Hotel in San Francisco, CA.

The World Movers Developers Conference, December 3-4, 1996, will provide the Web development community with a forum in which to view and discuss the latest VRML 2.0 compliant tools and technologies. The conference will be put on by Seybold Seminars and Silicon Graphics.

The VRML 97 Symposium will be held February 24-26, 1997, at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey California, USA. Officially titled "The Second Annual Symposium on the Virtual Reality Modeling Language", information including online registration, a call for participation, and deadlines are available at the VRML 97 Web site. VRML 97 will be a 3-day technical forum including courses and in-depth workshop discussions on the first day, followed by paper presentations, panels, exhibits, and demonstrations on the following two days. Note: The first round of proposals are due on October 15th.
